When to use "Eres" or "Sos" in Spanish

Eres

- It is a form of the verb "ser" (to be) conjugated with the pronoun "Tú" in the present tense. It means "you are".
- "Tú" is commonly used in informal situation which refers to the second person singular of the speech, it is mainly used in Spain, Mexico and in many other countries of Latin America.

Example 1:

eres un buen trabajador.

(You are a good worker.)

Example 2:

Eres tú el responsable por todo lo que ha pasado hoy.

(You are responsible for everything that happened today.)

Sos

- It is a form of the verb "Ser" conjugated with the pronoun "Vos" in the present tense. It means "you are".
- "Vos" is commonly used in informal situation which refers to the second person singular of the speech, it is mainly used in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and in many countries of Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica).

Example 3:

Vos sos para mí una persona muy especial.

(You are a very special person for me.)

Example 4:

Vos sos siempre la última en llegar.

(You are always the last one to arrive)
